Metallic Tips - For your Nails

Now then girlies, if you're anything like me you stick to the style you personally prefer , whether its on trend or not , but like me you like to incorporate elements of the newest styles and trends into your personal look .
Now one of the major trends whih has stayed la Mode since 2011 and is featuring more and more in Highstreet fashion is Metallic accenting - specifically through accesories however if your looking for a major metallic statement try some of these on for size :
Faux Leather Pleated Skirt
 metallic skirt - oasis £50.00
Metallic Skinny Jeans - Oasis - £58.00

Douliz Premium Sequin Hotpants - missguided.co.uk  - £22.99

However , you can create a metallic look without overpowering your outfit with your nails !!

Its pretty simple to be honest ;
1) Paint your nails with a Base coat - i use my Nail Envy , but you can use any base/top coat to protect your nails .
2) Paint on a base colour - 2 or 3 coats should suffice dependent on the colour or quality of the polish . you can use a metallic, no base, black or brights - i like to use a mauve shade such as Miscellaneous by misguided.

3) using a metallic finish polish ( such as instant nail effects by Barry M , foil effects ) carefully paint your tip onto your nail, if you cant do it without a template , use white crescent stickers , they're cheap and available at most drugstores for guided application (make sure your base is dry or the sticker will peel it off and that the tip is dry before removal or it will ruin the nail.)
4) Topcoat for shine or play with effects and use a matte topcoat.
Easy, Quick and On Trend.
Here are some pictures to give you food for thought , or art.

Review : Primark Stick on Nails

Review : Primark False Nails (French Tips)

Now i know that not everyone has access to Primark and its bargain price fashion and beauty but i just had to do this review for anyone who is looking into perhaps buying a more expensive set of falsies or maybe just browsing whats out there in the way of fake nails at home .

At £1.00 these are an absolute steal . £1.00 ! That's less than a one way bus journey to my shopping centre , Less than a bottle of Powerade , and certainly the cheapest set of false nails around (it even includes
adhesive glue !).
(i couldn't find an angle where my hands looked attractive : / )

Now first impressions :
a good range of sizes however i wish they'd had more smaller sizes than the bigger ones but i was graced with the hands of a hobbit and they have a wide demographic to fill so i can't fault them because i did get 10 nails which fit, and suited my fingers well , i think perhaps only one set of nails will come from this kit.The glue seems pretty standard adhesive , same size and after i used it i noticed it felt just as strong, dried just as fast and perhaps spread more easily than the glue in most ElegantTouch, Broadway and Nailene kits. No nail file was included which was the only thing away from the norm but to be honest i don't use the crappy little foam emery board that comes with nail kits - i'd advise those with an interest in nails to purchase a set of good (that doesn't mean expensive) nail files with a range of grains and  one glass/crystal nail file for the natural nail. The design (French Tip) was clear and quality with a lovely half moon tip and few imperfections i could see.

Application : The instructions say to apply the glue to your nail and press the false nail on for 5 seconds . I find that if i apply the adhesive to the false nail and then press it onto my natural nail that there is a more secure bond which i was happy to sacrifice a bit of neatness where glue was concerned . They easily stuck on straight and had a nice glossy appearance.
I used An Acrylic Nail Clipper to shorten some of my nails to the length i desired and smoothed the edges with a rough grained Emery board .

I LOVE THESE NAILS. Easy, Pretty and cheap as chips.

NOW HERE'S THE FUN PART ! Decorate as you will !!

The nails survived : Washing up, Shower time, exercise,, reading a book .
Didn't survive : sleeping (i had to glue half back on) !! x

Movie Review : Orphan 2009

Okay , i don't normally do this kinda crap because i know nothing whatsoever about the technical quality / graphics/all that techie stuff - but i felt the need to do a very short review on this horrible yet brilliant film .

Orphan is a 2009 phsychological thriller and horror film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra starring Isabelle FuhrmanVera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard. The film centers on a couple who, after the death of their unborn child, adopt a mysterious nine-year old girl. Orphan was produced by Joel Silver andSusan Downey of Dark Castle Entertainment and Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran of Appian Way Productions

If i were to describe this film in short without any obvious spoilers - Industrial clamp, Adorable Max and in need of some orthodontics

This film was more suspenseful than gory which is good for us fainters but it had the occasional moment of oh my god what the fuck is she doing oh my god stop - which is gross and terrifying. This is i'm sure not a horribly scary film to those who are horror film watchers but i was an innocent and now that is lost to me .

Unfortunately, even though the acting in this film is genius and i fell in love with the little girl Max , i am now unable to ever adopt a child much older than 3 years old in case they turn around and kill everyone i love.
Enjoy and try not to change tabs too often when the freaky bits reveal themselves (i obviously never once switched tabs or left the room or hid behind a pillow , stupid of you to even think it to be honest) .

Enjoy,
Sophie

Look Makeup Review 2013

Look (does the word Look look strange to you ?)!!

A heads up about a great offer at Superdrug stores and www.superdrug.co.uk !

Well hello there !
I think we all know by now that i'm a cheap/skint kinda lass and so i was very happy to discover a certain offer taking place in Superdrug at the moment !
I have seen LOOK ! makeup around ye old drugstore before and mainly paid attention to it because of the packaging . The clear , simple design of the eye shadows and blushes in particular - They dont bother with the silly sponge applicators which i always loose within 2 days but instead make sure to give you a good amount of product - more than usual because they ensure that the packaging is just that - packaging - it's not a ploy (even though i think its adorable) it is to keep your product protected.

Look Statement Eyes Single Eye Shadow Satchel
Now the offer thats on is that basically all of their products are around half price - so i wouldnt spend £7.00 on a lipstick from a brand i'd never heard of ! but £4 for a lipstick ? £2 for an eyeshadow ?? Theyre amazing prices and i bloody love the products!
I only bought 2 lipsticks because i am truly skint but couldnt stop mysen !

Look Loud Lips Toffee Cup - £4.00

Look Loud Lips Toffee Cup
A very pretty nude colour ! great for the daytime with a pinky-brown blush , kind of a pinky mink color ! i love this its creamy , its not drying , its long lasting . And the lipstick cap is magnetic !! so no more lids falling off in your bag and your lipstick getting ruined ! The packaging is sleek and metal - it feels great before you even put the product on !
I also bought Look Loud Lips in Cherry Bomb (£4.00) which is a blue red lipsticck that an be used heavily for a fll red lip or applied lightly for a tinted look !

GO CHECK OUT THEIR OFFER WHILST ITS STILL RUNNING !

Enjoy ,

E.L.F Haul 2013

My First E.L.F Haul !

Okay so i have always been slightly flaky when it comes to ordering makeup off of Eyeslipsface.co.uk just because a) i like to be able to see my makeup in person so i an clearly see the shades , b) Those £1.50s and £3.75s add up !! and c) i hate paying for shipping even if it is just £2.95 !
But i finally forced myself to do it and buy just a small amout of these value goodies - with some good and some bad revelations at the point of delivery .

Product 1 : Studio Matte Lip Colour (1.8g) - Tea Rose - £3.75

Okay so i couldn't get a good picture on my camera of this product but the Online store provides a swatch and a pic of the tube (tube? stick?) . The packaging first of all is so lovely and nice , it comes in a box which on the nicer side of drugstore packaging (see full Haul pic) and the actual tube is matte just like the matte Revlon lipstick tubes . However this is a long pencil like lipstick tube and the actual product is tapered to a point for precision application and this is so bloody useful !!
The colour of Tea Rose is beautiful - it is a pale pinky-purple , kind of a very pinky Puce ? it is a little off from the shade on the site but i love it all the same and will be repurchasing when i run out ! This lasts quite well but it will need to be reapplied after an hour or so :)
I almost forgot one of the best parts of this lipsticks - it tastes awesome !! it's sweet and i can't stop myself from licking my lips when i have it on - for those with less will power more applications per hour will be needed ;)

Product 2 : Studio Matte Lip Colour (1.8g) - Rich Red - £3.75

This is the same product as Tea Rose only this is in their newest red colour . The staying power, pigmentation level (strong) and lovely taste and the packaging is the same except for the obvious exchange of pink accents for red . Now this is a nice Yellow-Red Lipstick which would look lovely Matte (as it is ) or with a gloss applied on top - However as you can see from the swatch advertised on the webpage , i expected this to be a Blue-Red not a Yellow-Red because the blue toned reds are much more flattering on my cold undertones and makes my teeth look whiter (top tip right there) .
So i am a little disappointed about this product, but at least it was only £3.75 and i may give it to one of my BFF's who i know prefers yellow-red  lipstick .
Boo You E.L.F .

Product 3: Liquid Eyeliner (5ml) - Cocoa - £1.50

Hello Lover ! I adore these eyeliners ! At first i was annoyed because after placing my order i realized that i had ordered the simple Liquid eyeliners rather than the eyeliner pens which i have been using for about a year (Stila and L'oreal mostly) and E.L.F offers the pens for a tiny £1.50 . However i am so pleased that i ordered these instead , the colour is so pretty and a rich chocolate colour , and this stuff stays on all day without flaking , smudging or fading . I am going to purchase these in Black as well as A dark blue .
I bought this product in brown and grey because i find that with my blue/grey/green eyes it really makes them stand out without overpowering the pale colour or appearing too harsh in my pale (moon) face , this is the same reason i use a brown mascara ! I also chose brown and grey because i find that dependent on the shade i choose i can manipulate the colour my eyes appear as - brown makes them more grey, and grey makes them more green !
Product 4 : Liquid Eyeliner (5ml) - Ash - £1.50

I have the same love for this eyeliner as the Cocoa colour except that this is now my new Everyday eyeliner , its cheap, its really easy to use because of the consistency of the liner and the applicator brush .
May i also point out the sheer amount of product you receive ? £1.50 for 5ml ! My three other favourite liners at price range £13 - £9 have individual amounts of 1.7ml, 0.8ml and 0.5ml - with the 0.5ml being the most expensive .
A definite repurchase with lots of other goodies , especially if i can find a free shipping code - if you know of one give me a shout ;)

Okay so that's my first , very small, E.L.F haul and i am very happy . The package came in maybe 2 days tops, well packaged with bubble wrap , no mistakes and lovely products (mostly) . I am a Happy Little Elf - oh aren't i the Punniest ?

Enjoy,

My Top 5 Lipsticks - 2014

Maybe it's Maybelline  . . . Maybe it's Revlon.

My Top 6 Lipsticks.

My Top Six (Left to Right)
  1. Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick - 620 Spotlight Beige.
  2. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - 477 Black Cherry (creme)
  3. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - 663 Va Va Violet (creme)
  4. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - 025 Sky Line Pink (pearl)
  5. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - 002 Pink Pout (Matte)
  6. L'oreal Paris Studio Secrets Proffesional Universal Lip Glow - Unique Shade
My Top Three Favourites :
L'oreal Paris Studio Secrets Proffesional Universal Lip Glow - Unique Shade.
I wrote about this Lip Glow in my last Haul and have found since then that i am in love with this product ! it does give a rosy pink sheen to the lips which looks natural but is much pinker than my own lip shade . This is great when lightly applied for a natural look and a heavier hand applies a rich pink colour to the lips.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - 002 Pink Pout (Matte)
Matte is my favourite lipstick finish - i much prefer it to creme and pearl as it leaves a much more glamourous finish and it reminds me of 50s style makeup - my favourite Matt colour is actually Revlon - Mauve it Over but i ran outta that ;) . Pink Pout is a lovely matt light bubblegum pink , its girly and can be applied lightly and more heavily for different looks , i like to wear this with my paler foundation a mild blush/bronzer contour and either Lilac, Mint or Brown eye shadow in my outer V .
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - 663 Va Va Violet (creme)
This is my go-to lipstick for winter / night time drama ! if i want a more dramatic and eye catching look that my other , mostly pink / red colours i go for my Va Va Violet . I prefer to wear this with my more tanned foundation as it looks less goth and more grunge , i wear no blush and my Bronze to contour and then either black , mint or brown eye shadow . This is also a nice accent to a natural look with grey eyeliner .

Well They're my top Six Lipsticks with closer looks at my Top Three !
Enjoy ,
Sophie xx
